30 year fixed. It was required for the first time homebuyer program we did. Otherwise we would have most likely done a 7 year ARM.

a whopping 30 years. Who would want to pay theirs off in 15 or 20 years anyway.. i think of mortgage as a forever monthly payment thing

Mine is 15 year fixed and i guess with the bimonthly payments i should be able to pay it off by 7 at the maximum.

It's interesting that a lot of people here have mortgage loans with amortization over 25 years. This isn't good...
