In the area where I live near Leeds, out of the city:

the cheapest possible property would be a small two bedroomed terraced house, and these go for about £100,000.

For a nice three or four bedroomed place in one of the pretty villages, you would pay £300,000 upwards.

We bought our house for 35 000 CDN and it is about 1 100 square feet. We put about 10 000 into renovations and I'm pretty sure if we tried to sell our house we would not get our money out of it.

Fortunately when we get a bigger house we plan to pay off the mortgage on this one and move it to a lake lot to use as a cabin. Hopefully that plan works out for us.

I'm in Clearwater, Florida, where housing costs are going through the roof.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a two-bedroom home on a postage stamp of land for less than $150,000.

The latest craze is luxury condos: $200,000 or more for a glorified apartment. It's insane.

While I think that the condo market is going to eventuall go bust, houses are quite likely going to stay high in price. One of the driving forces is an odd one: Scientology. Clearwater is the planetary headquarters, and many Scientologists have been buying in the area in the past few years. My old neighborhood, in particular, has become a popular market. Scientologists bought and fixed up just about every home that became available in the area. I understand that it's happening in a lot of the areas that surround downtown.

Land is pretty cheap where I live. Around $1000-5000 an acre with nothing on it. Houses are a little different. In my town, most homes are small and go for $30-100 thousand depending upon condition and which neighborhood you are buying in. On the other hand, you can go to the two closest cities and find a ton of newer subdivisions where homes go for around $250,000 and up. But these are 3 or 4 bedroom, huge kitchens and great rooms, lots of land with them, etc.

My neighbor is selling their home for 265,000. I thought I would choke when I heard that. There is no way that they are going to get that. My home is only worth about 50, and my MIL, who lives in the neighborhood, had hers appraised for 175, and she has a much larger home, with around 8 acres of land. The neighbor only has a nice landscaping, but the home is as small as a cardboard box. They're crazy!

We live in a fairly reasonable cost area. You can get a nice 4 bedroom for about $200K. Several cities around us are slightly lower in cost.

Its all about location, location, location. There was such a high demand in the housing market for so long, that prices got a little high.

Houses where I live sell for really cheap all the homes around here are older homes but still really nice homes we paid 50,000 for a 2020 square foot home with a 2 car detached garage and a one car attached garage it has a paved drive site on 1 acer. it has 4 bedrooms and a sunroom also.

Property and homes are fairly expensive where I live. A 1/4 acre lot with 800sq foot home (very small!) is $150,000-$160,000. But where I went to college, $150,000 would get you a large new house on a nice piece of property.

Properties are way overpriced where I live (average price around $450,000) and they are due for 30-40% correction at least. People that bought homes where I live in the last 3 years, will soon find out that their house is not worth what they paid for it.
